Leather Dog Collars

The Lille Björn collar range comes in two widths, Classic and Wide, and two personalization options, Aeris (unpersonalized) and Vero (name embossed into the leather). All four use the same Italian vegetable-tanned leather and brass hardware: the difference is fit and personalization, not material or build quality.

A wide collar spreads the same pulling force across more surface area, which reduces pressure on any single point of the neck. This makes a wide collar a practical choice for large or giant breeds, and for long-necked breeds like whippets and greyhounds where a standard width can sit awkwardly or shift during walks.

Why leather

Our collars are made from full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather. Full-grain means the leather retains the hide's outermost layer, the strongest and most durable part, rather than being sanded down or split. Vegetable-tanned means it's tanned using natural plant extracts rather than the chromium salts used in faster, mass-market tanning. The result is a material that ages with a visible patina instead of cracking or peeling the way bonded leather or nylon webbing can over time. Combined with solid brass hardware, which resists rust and corrosion rather than just looking polished when new, a full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather collar is built to be used daily for years, not replaced each season.

Measuring your dog for a collar

Measure snugly around the middle of your dog's neck with a tape measure, without leaving extra space, our collars are true to size, so a snug measurement gives the best fit. Each size reflects the collar's inner circumference range; for example, a Classic Collar size S (27 to 32 cm) fits necks measured between 27 and 32 cm. Vero collars are personalized by embossing your dog's name directly into the leather surface, pressed in rather than printed, engraved, or attached as a separate tag or plate.
